BLACKWATER BLUES
How to create this modern style - simple abstract. Art Tutorial
Materials I Used:
-Titanium white
-Black
-Silver metallic (acrylic and acrylic ink)
-Copper metallic acrylic ink
Flat brush
Paper Towel
Small wrapped canvas
Step One:
Prep your canvas with either a coat of Titanium White or Gesso. Let dry.
Step Two:
Give your canvas a distressed coat of black. By distressed, I mean a “patchy” coat (not completely smooth black). You can add and subtract/wipe away paint with a paper towel. Let dry.
Step Three:
Drop some metallic silver on the canvas in spots. Use your flat brush to scrum it a bit. You just want to create some light metallic/glimmer spots.
Step Four:
Drop some white and copper acrylic inks on your canvas. Use a stick (or brush handle) to swipe through them and create a unique pattern. Let dry.
Step Five:
Add some Titanium White with a small flat brush. Brush it in small swipes up and down and then use the side of the brush to swirl in a bit and give it some movement.
Let dry.
Step Six:
Finish sides in black. Let dry.
Varnish and let dry fully.
